(Hanover Township, PA) – Since October 2017, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) has been aboard a nonstop flight of positive passenger growth, which reached 17 consecutive months in February.

Last month, 58,276 passengers traveled through ABE – that is an 8.8 percent increase from February 2018.

“This wave of momentum certainly continues to be the result of strong support from air travelers within the Lehigh Valley and surrounding communities,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

By the numbers, American reported a total passenger increase of 39.5%, followed by Allegiant up 2.3%, and Delta jumping 1.7%. United had a minimal decline in traffic due to winter weather cancellations.

“American is flying high out of the gate in 2019, as they are about to begin daily service to Chicago (O’Hare) from ABE on April 2nd.  Several flights were cancelled or delayed by airlines in February due to mother nature, but give plenty of credit to our snow and ice control team for keeping the runways safe and operational.” said Stoudt.
