UPDATE: Statement Regarding Helicopter Incident at ABE

On Sunday, August 11th at 2:45 p.m., the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) Operations Center received an Alert 3 for a reported helicopter crash behind Hangar 10 at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Units from ABE did support with mutual aid. The helicopter did depart from ACE Pilot Training School at ABE.

Initial reports from emergency responders on scene reported two (2) souls transported to a local hospital with reported non-life threatening injuries.  Update: On Monday, August 12th, local media outlets began reporting that the pilot has serious injuries and is listed in critical condition.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the pilot, passenger, and their families involved in this tragic incident.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) continues to conduct the investigation.
