$25 donation can honor or remember those impacted in the Lehigh Valley

(Hanover Township, PA) – Already on board for a cure, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) has spread its wings through a partnership with the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley (CSCGLV).

On Tuesday, August 18th, representatives of ABE and the CSCGLV, joined Air Products and other sponsors for a ribbon cutting to officially dedicate the takeoff of “Take Flight Against Cancer” – which will give hope to those who have been impacted by cancer.

With a $25 donation, you can honor or remember yourself, a family member, friend, or co-worker impacted by cancer on the horizontal stabilizers from the tail section of a Gulf-Stream (GIV) 1000.

“It’s time to give cancer a non-stop flight to extinction, as so many of us at the airport and in the region have been affected by this disease,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. “I’m extremely grateful to all of the volunteers and of course our staff for their self-less dedication.

In September 2019, CSCGLV received the donation of Gulf-Stream (GIV) 1000 tail section horizontal stabilizer wings from New World Aviation and immediately secured the engineering talents of Air Products Retiree Group (AirPRO) led by Rick Sell and Morris Halpin. Following two months of non-stop restoration, the structure was completely installed by the end of June.

The 12-foot horizontal stabilizers are constructed on an 8-foot by 32-foot platform and located in the TSA Tunnel of the Terminal Complex.

“We are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) on this initiative to bring awareness to the comprehensive psychosocial programs that are offered to cancer patients and their families here in the Lehigh Valley. By partnering with ABE, and the opportunity to raise funds, we will be able to continue to offer these program at no cost to anyone affected by cancer, said Amanda K. Buss, Executive Director, Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

100% of the proceeds will go towards the following programs offered by the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley:

  • Support Groups
  • Education Seminars
  • Healthy Lifestyle Classes
  • Children / Family Programs
  • Social Activities
