Streak Continues with Strong September

October 22nd, 2018 |

7-percent passenger jump from the same month last year

(Hanover Township, PA) – Even with the conclusion of summer vacations and the devastation from Hurricane Florence, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) experienced another strong month of increased passenger traffic.

In September, 57,195 passengers traveled through ABE – that is a 7.45 percent increase from the same month last year. This marked twelve consecutive months of positive growth dating back to October 2017.

“We’re extremely proud of our sustained passenger growth over the last year, but there are certainly challenges ahead which includes the fast approaching winter season,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

By the numbers, Allegiant reported a total passenger increase of 19.1%, followed by Delta up 17.6%. American and United both posted minimal declines in traffic.

“Airlines took a deep breath following the busy summer travel season resulting in fewer seats within our market which have returned in October, and of course the devastating path of Hurricane Florence included nine flight cancellations for American from ABE”, said Stoudt.
