ABE and mutual aid partners to meet during Runway 6-24 closure

(Hanover Township, PA)On Saturday, September 18th, the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) will host regional mutual aid partners for an annual review of the Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) – required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

This year’s review and tabletop exercise is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will be an in-person event scheduled to take place during the 72-hour closure of Runway 6-24.  Approximately 100 attendees and (26) emergency vehicles will participate in the following:

(8:05 – 9:20 a.m.) Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) overview of:

(9:30 – 10:25 a.m.) Tabletop exercise which focuses on the response phase of an emergency involving a passenger aircraft. Participants will:

(10:30 – 11:45 a.m.) Tour facilities and drill/practice, in the airport complex, which includes:

Drill/practice of the following are planned:

Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) successfully completed the required FAA Triennial Exercise in April 2021.
