Research of a Travel Route

September 20th, 2021 |

Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) distributes survey on San Juan, P.R.

(Hanover Township, PA) – With (15) nonstop flights that connect the region to worldwide leisure and business destinations, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is constructing a new case for expanding air service options.

On Wednesday, September 15th, the Airport in coordination with Know Your Knowledge (KYK) Research Consultants, distributed a survey throughout the Lehigh Valley focused on the destination of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The survey can be accessed at www.flyabe.com.

Information obtained through these survey questions provides critical demographic and travel indicators that Airport representatives will use to market the need for direct air service to San Juan.

According to the 2020 U.S. Census, Allentown has the third-largest percentage of Hispanic residents of any Pennsylvania city with a population greater than 10,000 (in Allentown, 68,000 people identified themselves as Hispanic, roughly 54% of the city’s population). Reading, which is 69% Hispanic, has the largest percentage and Hazleton, which is 63% Hispanic, is second.

“Research and data obtained by this survey is extremely helpful when the Airport discusses short-range and long-range opportunities with airlines to bring non-stop service that benefits communities surrounding ABE. We want to reinforce the need for a new route by showing there is solid demand and community support,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.
