May Momentum Keeps Passenger Traffic Rising

24-percent increase from previous year at ABE

Passenger traffic at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) carried a recent stretch of momentum throughout May by marking an eighth consecutive month of positive passenger growth dating back to October 2017. 

Last month, 69,675 passengers traveled through ABE – that is a 24.4 percent increase from May 2017.

“We are excited to have the support of travelers from around the region which indicates that passengers are enjoying the affordability, convenience, comfort and family-friendly environment at ABE,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

By the numbers, American reported a total passenger increase of 66.2%, followed by Allegiant at 18.5%, United posting 17.25% growth, and Delta up 8.45%.

“Coming off their strong growth in April, our legacy carriers of American, Delta and United have maintained their high performance numbers and Allegiant continues to be powerful in the leisure travel market,” said Stoudt.
