$700,000 designated for Main Terminal Parking Lot Improvements

The Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) received a $700,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Multimodal Transportation Fund on Friday.

In the midst of rehabilitating infrastructure at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE), the LNAA identified a multi-phase project to improve conditions and upgrade the Main Terminal Parking Lot facilities including realignment of entrance points, new parking booth and equipment, along with enhanced wayfinding and road signage for passengers.

“An evaluation of these facilities identified several areas in need of critical upgrades and this assistance from PennDOT helps expedite moving this project forward,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, LNAA.

Act 89 of 2013 established a dedicated Multimodal Transportation Fund that stabilizes funding for ports and rail freight, increases aviation investments, establishes dedicated funding for bicycle and pedestrian improvements, and allows targeted funding for priority investments in any mode.

“The Airport Authority continues to be grateful for the unwavering support of our state legislators, as we pursue the overall vision of creating the best regional airport system in North America,” said Stoudt.
