26,123 passengers for the takeoff of summer travel at ABE
(Hanover Township, PA) – As COVID-19 continues to severely impact air travel, your neighborhood airport received a jolt in passenger traffic during June.
Last month, 26,123 passengers traveled through Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) – a 70.8 percent decrease from June ’19, but a doubling of travelers over last month.
“Certainly this is positive news as people emerged from Stay at Home orders and decided to keep original summer travel plans. It’s also reflective of their confidence in the Airport to deliver a healthy terminal complex through our Fly Safe with ABE program that has been implemented on every level of the operation,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, LNAA

By the numbers, Delta reported a significant passenger traffic decrease of 96%, United dropped 80.4%, American is down 65.7%, and Allegiant declined by 57.2%.
“Most passenger traffic was focused on leisure destinations with Allegiant experiencing more activity, while the legacy carriers indicated more schedule changes are expected,” said Stoudt.
Currently, Delta service to Atlanta (ATL) is expected to return in August, while American flights to Philadelphia (PHL) remain suspended indefinitely. On July 6th, United executed a hub change by suspending service to Chicago (ORD) and restarting the bus service to Newark (EWR).
