Increased Flights From ABE to Chicago

American Airlines will begin service twice daily in April 2019

 (Hanover Township, PA) – Booking a trip to the windy city? Passengers will soon have an additional option when taking off from Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE).

On Friday, November 2nd, the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) announced that American Airlines will begin non-stop service to Chicago, Illinois (ORD – O’Hare International Airport) in April 2019.

“We are very excited that American decided to expand their operation in the Lehigh Valley, as being able to offer this service twice a day gives air travelers another reason to choose the comfort and convenience of ABE,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

Currently, American provides daily service to Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT) and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PHL). The airline has enjoyed solid growth in 2018 with a 21% passenger increase compared to 2017.

“Since October 2017, its been 12 consecutive months of passenger increases at ABE due to passengers taking advantage of more available seats in the market and most importantly an enjoyable customer experience”, said Stoudt.

Through September, Lehigh Valley International Airport provided air service to approximately 592,371 passengers – a 16-percent jump through the same time period last year.
