December 20th, 2018 |

(ABE) already surpasses 2017 total passenger traffic with one month still to go in 2018.

With the holiday travel season prepared for takeoff this weekend, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) has already risen to new heights by eclipsing 700,000 passengers during one year for the first time since 2011.

69,414 passengers traveled through ABE in November – which is a 15.67 percent increase from the same month last year. For the first 11 months of 2018, 731,521 passengers flew through ABE.

“ABE hasn’t experienced this level of traffic in seven years, and we can’t say thank you enough to every air traveler that chose the convenience of their neighborhood airport,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

ABE extended a streak of 14 consecutive months of positive passenger growth dating back to October 2017.

By the numbers in November, United reported a total passenger increase of 54.5%, followed by American up 27.7%, and Allegiant jumped 6.1%. Delta posted a 5% decline for the month.

“Every single one of our air carriers (Allegiant, American, Delta, and United) has contributed to this significant achievement by either adding additional flights or utilizing larger aircraft in our market.” said Stoudt.
