Amazing August at ABE

September 24th, 2018 |

15.5 percent passenger jump from the same month last year

Summer vacations and family getaways contributed to an amazing August of increased passenger traffic at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). This marked the eleventh consecutive month of positive growth dating back to October 2017.

Last month, 77,851 passengers traveled through ABE – which is a 15.5 percent increase from August 2017 – and the highest single month passenger total since August of 2011 (85,815).

Providing non-stop service to our popular leisure destinations of Myrtle Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Sanford/Orlando, St. Petersburg-Clearwater and Punta Gorda, Allegiant served 29,672 passengers in August.

“We thank air travelers in the Lehigh Valley and our surrounding communities for continuing to choose the comfort and convenience of taking off from their neighborhood airport,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

By the numbers, Allegiant reported a total passenger increase of 24%, followed by Delta up 15%, and American posting 12% growth for the month.

“A strong economy, more available seats in the market, and the first class customer experience we offer at ABE are the critical factors producing these positive results for all of our air carriers,” said Stoudt.
