Flights to Midway International Airport (MDW) in Chicago begin on May 14th

(Hanover, Township) – Coming off the announcement of three new destinations in 2019, Allegiant has chosen Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) for its newest service into the nation’s Windy City – Chicago.

Starting on May 14th, 2020, ABE will offer flights to Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) – a popular landing spot for business or leisure travelers and which also can be an additional connection point to anywhere in the world.

A special introductory fare of $33 can be purchased by January 16th.

“This announcement demonstrates that Allegiant’s decision to bring their 18th aircraft crew base to the Lehigh Valley in February 2020, will bolster air travel options for everyone in the region, said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.

From ABE, Allegiant already provides non-stop flights to Clearwater / St. Petersburg (PIE), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Myrtle Beach (MYR), Nashville (BNA), Punta Gorda (PGD),  Orlando/Sanford (SFB), Sarasota / Bradenton (SRQ), and Savannah / Hilton Head (SAV).

In late August of last year, state, local, and airport officials joined executives from the airline, as Allegiant announced plans to establish a two-aircraft base at ABE) include the creation at least 66 new, high-wage jobs. The Las Vegas-based company invested $50 million to establish its new base of operations, which will house two Airbus aircraft and operational / airline services. Base operations are set to begin on February 12th.

“We are counting down the days to welcome home these critical Allegiant staff members into your neighborhood airport. Passenger demand has grown consistently year after year. The arrival of locally-based crews brings a exciting element to this partnerships continued success,” said Stoudt.

Beyond providing the highest level of customer service within the region, ABE and Allegiant have developed a strong commitment to community initiatives which includes their annual “Wings for All” event – in coordination with The ARC of Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
