(Hanover Township, PA) – After closing the curtain on another busy summer travel season, passenger traffic numbers continued their steep ascent at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) – reaching it’s highest total for September since 2010.

Last month, 66,854 passengers traveled through ABE – a 16.89 percent increase from the September ’18. This marked 24 consecutive months of positive growth dating back to October 2017.

“It’s truly remarkable to see this steady increase over a 24 month period. The airport remains grateful for the loyalty of our passengers; the commitment of airlines to expand service options and offer more seats in the market with larger aircraft; plus, the dedication of staff to ensure the customer experience in your neighborhood airport is unmatched,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

By the numbers, United reported a total passenger increase of 44%, American jumped 36.7%, with Allegiant following at 10% up. Delta posted a minimal decline in traffic of 2.8%.

“Over the next few months, the holiday travel season takes center stage. Passengers can expect a festive atmosphere as they experience our annual holiday concerts, decorations, and holiday trees. Of course, many people are counting the days until the official arrival of Dunkin’ in the Wilfred M. “Wiley” Post Departure Concourse which is certain to be a welcomed stop on the way to the gate,” said Stoudt.
