(Hanover Township, PA) – With the arrival of a 14th nonstop destination scheduled for early next year, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) continues a significant growth spurt in 2019.

Last month, 77,794 passengers traveled through ABE – a 11.56 percent increase from the October ’18. This marked 25 consecutive months of positive growth dating back to October 2017.

“ABE has already served over 760,000 passengers which equates to 16 percent growth year to date. We anticipate another busy holiday travel season and our staff is excited to ensure a comfortable environment for travelers using their neighborhood airport which includes the return of the holiday concert series featuring local schools and the festival of trees,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

By the numbers, American reported a passenger traffic increase of 28.7%, while Allegiant jumped 15.1%, and United up 4.3%.  Delta posted a minimal decline in traffic of 2.5%.

“Judging by our announcement of a $22 million TSA Checkpoint and Vertical Circulation improvement project, new flights to Sarasota / Bradenton Florida and the arrival of the Allegiant Crew Base Operation in February 2020, things aren’t slowing down anytime soon,” said Stoudt.
