Fly Safe with ABE
June 30, 2020
COVID-19 has changed everyday life for all of us. It has certainly impacted the way people travel at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). But don’t worry because the ease and convenience of flying through Your Neighborhood Airport remains intact.
First, passengers need to know that keeping you safe is a serious responsibility. It is a responsibility that has always been our top priority and that mission won’t ever change.
Recently, the Airport unveiled the Fly Safe with ABE initiative, which includes important guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PDOH). You can call it – a flight plan of safety!
The Airport even added a new crew member to be your guide. Let us introduce – Abe, the pilot.
You can find Abe on hundreds of informational banners and signs while navigating through Your Neighborhood Airport. There is even an option for you to text Abe if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Before taking off for the Airport – Abe (like any good pilot) wants you to review your pre-flight checklist of requirements so that all passengers know:
- The use of masks or face coverings is required in the terminal complex and by all airlines at ABE
- Social distancing is easy to do just by following signs and floor markings in the terminal
- Frequently washing and/or sanitizing your hands is important during travel
Months of research, preparation, and implementation by dedicated Airport staff has resulted in the creation of an enhanced healthy travel environment with: additional signs and markings to help assist with social distancing, more hand sanitizing stations deployed throughout the terminal complex, increased disinfection / cleaning procedures by our custodial staff, installation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at concession areas, kiosks, and ticket counters, public service announcements reminding passengers of critical safety measures, and the use of NanoSeptic® antimicrobial self-cleaning films applied to numerous touch points throughout our facilities.
“From the start of the search for a new normal at ABE, our vision was to help restore an enjoyable and convenient travel experience by producing the healthiest environment for family, friends, and travel companions,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).
