“North Pole Express” Charity Flight departed on December 10 at LVIA
Allentown, PA – It’s a popular flight destination every holiday season, and ten families from the Lehigh Valley received their ticket to the North Pole.
On Saturday, December 10, Lehigh Valley International Airport hosted the annual “North Pole Express” Charity Flight, courtesy of United / United Express.
Passengers were checked-in, processed through the TSA checkpoint, before boarding a plane that took them on a quick flight to the “home of Santa Claus.
“All eyes are on the North Pole this time of year, and passengers on this flight got a front row seat to all the excitement,” said Charles Everett, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.
Santa Claus and his elves were awaiting these special travelers at their arrival gate for a holiday celebration. Food and refreshments, face-painting, balloons and presents were provided to all the children.
“There aren’t words to describe these kids getting on a plane for the first time, flying to the North Pole, meeting Santa and having this whole community of volunteers smiling with love for all these families,” said Beth Tomlinson, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
This event was coordinated through a partnership between Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley and Family Connection of Easton.
