The Arc of Lehigh and Northampton Counties, in collaboration with the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) and Allegiant Air, will host the 4th Annual “Wings for All®” at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) on Saturday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m.

Wings for All®, one of The Arc’s national initiatives, is an airport rehearsal specially designed for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Intellectual/Developmental disabilities, their families and aviation professionals.

“For families who thought they would never be able to travel by air, this event provides hope. The rehearsal takes place right in their own community and makes air travel a true possibility for them,” said Karen Shoemaker, Executive Director of The Arc.

The program provides families with the opportunity to practice entering the airport, obtaining boarding passes, going through security, and boarding a plane. Wings for All® also gives airport, airline, Transportation Security Administration professionals, and other personnel the opportunity to observe, interact, and deliver their services in a structured, learning environment.

“The Airport Authority is extremely proud of this event’s contributions to the many success stories of its participants. We are also continually inspired by the dedication demonstrated each year by LNAA staff & volunteers, The Arc, and the unwavering support from Allegiant,” said Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority Executive Director, Thomas Stoudt.
